Media Articles & Awards

Here are just some of the newspaper articles and award presentations that Raise The Gong has been a part of.

Because we are 100% volunteer run, it always feels extra special when we have the support of our local media!

In The Community

So, what do Raise The Gong do in the local community?

Our goal is to assist local women, and promote health and well-being for all of us in our region. Here's just some of how we do it!

Chemo Care Kits

Our major ongoing project is creating Chemo Care Kits for all women who enter into chemotherapy treatment for the first time at either of the Wollongong centres. We need a great deal of support to keep this project going!

Stress Less Sunday

Stress Less Sunday is our annual festival type event held in Wollongong each March. Local women, their families and friends are invited to share in our "stress less" event, complete with free pamper tents, entertainment and activities for everyone! Stay tuned for information about our next Stress Less Sunday!

First Aid Courses

Raise The Gong will be running reduced cost First Aid courses in September/October 2010, with our partner sponsor Wollongong First Aid.

Donations to local cancer care units

We are committed to supporting local cancer care services. Along with our Chemo Care Kits, we have also donated portable DVD players and a DVD library, and a special wheelchair to the Illawarra Cancer Care Centre.

Self Defence Classes

Approximately 25 local women participated in free (or gold donation entry) Self-Defence classes, conducted by local martial arts champion Mick Cutajar. Our friends at Wollongong Judo assisted us in creating a tailor-made program for local women - to promote health, safety and personal well-being, and provide women with skills in self-defence and protection.

Participating in Community Events

Raise The Gong regularly participate in other community events, such as the annual Cancer Council Relay for Life. We welcome all of our members to join our team and help raise money for this worthy cause!
